On the predictability of the U.S. elections through search volume activity (Catherine Lui, Panagiotis T. Metaxas, Eni Mustafaraj)

Google trends gives hints: The interest of people might describe popularity. Queries all over the world, but also from different different countries can be considered. The interest in Google trends predictions started when they were associated with flue symptoms. People will start queries about sore noses, high fever etc. 🙂 The advantage of looking at internet searches is that we can predict epidemics sooner. (more…)
